A top-down, top-down RPG that is like Diablo, Lost Ark features five classes, and fifteen Advanced Classes. Classes here are more similar to classes (Gunner Berserker, Martial Artists, Sorcerer, and Assassin) and the more advanced classes have distinct identities and skills -for example: Gunslinger, Bard, Sorceress and Gunlancer. Scrapper, Wardancer, Sharpshooter and more.
In contrast to other MMOs There aren't specific tanks or support In Lost Ark. There are some characters that are more tanky (like the Gunlancer, who grants his own personal shield, however, he doesn't have the dodge other players enjoy) and there are also characters who can aid friends (like those like the Bard and Paladin that can give bonuses to damage or shields for their fellow players). However, everyone who plays Lost Ark can still deal with their fair share of harm.
However, each subclass feels as if it's filling a particular niche. Gunslingers can do a lot of damage however they are vulnerable when attacking and provide little value to their team. The four Martial Artist's classes that are advanced are designed to deal damage, however, they also provide additional advantages such as the ability to stagger bosses, or provide more buffs to teammates.
Unfortunately, one of the game's most irritating flaws is the fact that subclasses are restricted by gender. It is only possible to play male Scrappers however, to be Wardancer, you must play as a female. This is a ridiculous system and definitely a source of frustration, however it doesn't detract from your overall Lost Ark experience.
