You've got to provide them a reason why they should mailing list sign up. Why would they want to be a part of your list? There are many mailing lists out there, and the people on these lists get junk mail from all the time. Why should they want to sign up for something and actually say, "Yes, please send me something!", "Please send me offers!" "Please send me information from you!"? You've got to provide them a good reason to say, "Yes, please include me in your list!" There are several good reasons you can use. I am not going to notify you this is the proper way. It is a "right way," but it is not the only correct way. Tell them that all they mailing list have to do is give you their e-mail address, and you'll you will send them your weekly or your monthly newsletter by e-mail. That's one way to do it. Even if you don't want to publish an electronic newsletter, there are many incentives you can provide to get people to give mailing list you their e-mail address so that you can e-mail them. You can give away a free report. The offer could be something like, "Anyone who is prepared to provide their e-mail address gets a free report.

If your list includes missing zip codes, you mailing list can also use a reverse zip code custom function to return the zip code for a given mailing list city and state. Another common problem is that leading zeros can be dropped when zip codes are entered in Excel. This can be prevented by changing cell formatting to text before the data is imported. But if you've already created your list, just use a custom function to automatically return valid 5 digit zip codes from the database, with all mailing list leading zeroes intact. Custom functions are ideal for processing long lists of addresses. There is no need to enter a new formula manually for each item in your list. Just enter a single formula that includes the custom function and a reference to the first zip code. Then copy this formula down your entire list - results for thousands of addresses can be returned in seconds. This is a huge advantage over mailing list transferring data one-by-one from the Post Office web site or other zip code software. Custom functions can provide many different kinds of information. They can be used to calculate distances between zip codes or zip codes within a given radius.
